Global attraction experience software specialists n-gage.io has announced a new contract with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, an international charity, headquartered at Jersey Zoo in the Channel Islands.

Working to save species from extinction, the Trust has launched the mobile app and attraction management software at Jersey Zoo which welcomes over 200,000 visitors annually. The zoo, which is managed by the Trust, was originally founded by author and naturalist Gerald Durrell in 1959.

Set in 32 acres of beautiful parkland, Jersey Zoo is home to over 100 animal species, from western lowland gorillas to the smallest of reptiles. As a centre of excellence in animal husbandry, research, training and education, the Zoo plays a pivotal conservation role across the globe, breeding some of the world's most endangered species.

Based at the zoo, the Durrell Conservation Academy trains aspiring and established conservationists from across the globe to better protect the species they work with.

Durrell collaborates with many different organisations across the world from universities, NGOs, and government agencies to the local communities who are so important in delivering their conservation work on the ground. Their work has been recognised in a recent study that established of 60 species whose global extinction has likely been prevented by conservation actions over the past 30 years, Durrell has led programmes or provided significant support to 18% of those prevented extinctions.

Jersey Zoo has just unveiled the new visitor experience mobile app to help improve conservation education, navigation, and interactive engagement at their site. Given Durrell’s reputation for global conservation activity, the team at the Trust engaged attraction experience specialists n-gage.io to explore how mobile technology could play a wider part in their conservation strategy whilst also introducing a host of interactive features in a new mobile app to enhance the Jersey Zoo visitor experience.

The n-gage.io solution pairs the SaaS platform's highly customisable visitor mobile app with its powerful attraction management software to deliver the Durrell team both the tools and data insights it needs to enhance the visitor experience and deepen engagement with them in real-time.

The zoo now plans to use the app as a focal point for its visitors, to provide even more rich content and media on their wide variety of species and the work of the Trust in protecting them and their natural habitats across the globe. Jersey Zoo visitors benefit from the impact of improved navigation using the app’s wayfinding solution.

The Trust also plans to use the app to keep both visitors and members up to date with their valuable conservation work alongside details of their latest campaigns, event programmes and experiences. The team will also make use of valuable data insights to improve engagement and refine campaigns to help drive fundraising through targeted and personalised notifications.

"We're excited to launch our new Jersey Zoo App and offer our visitors an enhanced digital experience," said Ian Osborne, Director of Commercial at Jersey Zoo. “The team at n-gage.io has developed a software platform and mobile visitor app that is helping the industry to transform their approach to visitor engagement, whilst delivering business critical insights to help improve operations. The technology will certainly help us to enhance the on-site visitor experience at the Zoo and deliver another layer of digital media around the conservation work of the Trust. We believe the software and app to be a game changer for our industry when it comes to raising conservation awareness and delivering a more personalised approach to engagement.”

"We're delighted to be supporting the work of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, said Bryan Hoare CEO of n-gage.io. "The Trust are renowned for their vital conservation work around the world, and it’s great to know our technology is playing a part in helping to raise further awareness, whilst giving the Jersey Zoo team the tools they need to capture valuable visitor data insights to help improve operations and drive revenue growth.”
